Sichma will NOT accept or certify any poultry slaughter plant or further value added service that uses a gas stunning method. SICHMA may accept poultry that has been stunned using an electric bath stunning method after an initial audit.

SICHMA will not accept or certify bovine that is stunned using a penetrative captive bolt pistol. We will however accept electric stunning or through a device with a non-penetrating round head, in a way that does not kill the animal before its slaughter, provided that the following conditions are adhered to;

Any blows to the head or a similar action, such as use of penetrative captive bolt pistol or penetrative percussion stunning or stunning by carbon dioxide is not permitted.

The client shall only employ and use SICHMA accredited slaughtermen to perform the halal slaughtering activities.

Surveillance and surprise visit frequency will be stipulated as either once or twice each year, but additional visits may be conducted at the discretion of SICHMA halal certification Scheme.
